Ai Wei Wei, the dissident Chinese contemporary artist and activist has produced a varied body of conceptual work over the past four decades. The show’s title, Ai Wei Wei. Don Quixote, references the inspiration that the young artist found in an illustrated copy of Cervantes’ novel, while the exhibition itself brings together key installations, videos, and series from the past twenty years. Curated by Álvaro Rodríguez Fominaya, the director of MUSAC, the exhibit is accompanied by a bilingual catalogue featuring texts by both Rodríguez Fominaya and Ai Weiwei, along with others by Luis Mateo Díez, and Monserrat Pis Marcos.
