Alex Katz (New York, 1927) is one of the leading artists in contemporary American painting and is considered one of the pioneers of Pop Art in the 20th century. His large-format figurative style broke away from abstract expressionism with his portraits, his recognisable flowers and his brightly coloured environmental landscapes with flat backgrounds, creating a unique and distinctive style.
This catalogue covers seven decades of work in 40 monumental works, accompanied by several essays, and has been supervised by the artist himself.
Exhibition curated by Tomás Llórens and Guillermo Solana, artistic director of the Thyssen Museum.
