Luis Baylón’s career as a photographer was shaped by his self-taught background and the development of a distinctive visual language, which reached maturity in the 1980s. His spontaneous approach and mastery of black-and-white photography draw certain parallels between his series Los españoles and Robert Frank’s seminal work The Americans.
This monograph brings together 95 photographs taken by Baylón with his ever-present Rolleiflex between 1982 and 2014, across various cities in Spain. Co-published by RM and Delpire, the volume features texts by writer Andrés Barba and photographer Bernard Plossu.
