Private Aspen delves into the architectural tradition shaped by the influence of Herbert Bayer, an artist and designer trained at the Bauhaus, who settled in Aspen in 1946 and brought the movement’s principles to the architecture, landscape, and cultural identity of the city.
The book explores the residential architecture of Aspen, in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, where materiality, light, and the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces define new ways of inhabiting the landscape.
