Hilma Af Klint is known for the bold abstract paintings she began creating around 1906, years before artists such as Mondrian, Malevich, and Kandinsky began their forays into non-figuration. Hilma Af Klint presents a survey of the Swedish artist’s work, rooted in both spirituality and science, and also includes early academic explorations as well as late watercolors and sketchbooks. The exhibition is curated by Tracey Bashkoff, Senior Director of Collections and Senior Curator, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, together with Lucía Agirre, Curator, Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. The richly illustrated catalogue features texts by the curators as well as David Max Horowitz, and Julia Voss.
